Pride and Prejudice (2005 Film)
About the Film
Sparks fly when spirited Elizabeth Bennet meets single, rich, and proud Mr. Darcy. But Mr. Darcy reluctantly finds himself falling in love with a woman beneath his class. Can each overcome their own pride and prejudice?
Nice condensed version of P&P. Matthew Macfadyen plays a nice Mr. Darcy.
This movie is terrible. It’s more of an adaptation than P&P in film format. They set indoor scenes outside and have characters saying each other’s lines from the book. And what’s with all of the farm animals running through the house? Don’t even get me started on the sex before marriage ending.
If you want a quick, modernized version of P&P then I would recommend watching this. It isn’t very true to the book and the character of Elizabeth is nothing like how she should be. The sisters are all great and Macfadyen is gorgeous as Darcy. I think the director was more obsessed with “clever” shots than actual dialogue. Overall worth a one time viewing… then just stick to the Colin version!
